Could you please tell me what Formula timed out does mean and how it can be sorted?

The time out means your formula took an unusually long time to compute (e.g. > 3 minutes) which is very long for our engine.
Most of the time, this means the formula is not optimised at all - calculating way too much data compared to what you actually want. @Elliot has written a very good article on how to optimise your formulas:
