We recently used XNPV to fulfil a client requirement. In some cases, they had an XNPV calculated on the exit period asset sale value, which meant most of the yearly CF were zeroes except for 1 single time period.
In order to get it to work in Pigment similar to Excel, we had to deviate from the approach of having zeroes as Blanks in Pigment. The CFs with zeroes were important to get the function to behave similarly to Excel. Hence, I would recommend others to check their IF statements for the ‘Payment Metric’ argument carefully.
