Static formatting in Pigment is used when you want to apply formatting or a certain style to your data in Lists, Metrics, and Tables in Grid or KPI display mode. Static formatting is applied to a specific View, allowing you to have multiple Views with different formatting. This can include specific cells, font style, value displaying, and colors. It's useful when you want to present your data in a more efficient and visually appealing way.

Apply Static Formatting

  • Click Format. Static formatting opens and the following selection shortcut is available:

Static Formatting Options

Selection

When you select a header, you will be given the three options on what should be formatted, the selected areas will pulse to highlight what will be formatted.

  • Whole row / Whole Column. Selects the cells and headers, depending on which header is selected.
  • Header. When selected only the header is formatted.
  • Cells. When selected, the cells of the row, column, or metric that was selected will be formatted.
  • Only my selection. This ensures the formatting is only applied to the selected header or cells.
  • Every instance of my selection. Applies formatting to every instance that a Metric or item is repeated throughout the entire Metric or Table, even if selections are not visible when applied.
  • All rows/columns in the group. Applies formatting to all the items with in the group, including any new items that might be added to that group after you are done formatting.

When there are two Dimensions in a row/column a group would be considered all of the items in the lower Dimension that are associated with an item in the upper Dimension.

For example, if you had Quarters and Months in Rows, if you selected this option on January in Q1, it would include, January, February, and March.

  • All rows/columns. All items in the selected row or column.
