The Pigment App for Slack allows all Members receive Pigment notifications directly within your Slack workspace. This integration enhances your workflow by consolidating notifications from Pigment into your Slack.

To set up or edit the connection to Slack, Members must have an Account type of Security Admin or Primary Owner.

Depending on your Slack configuration, a Slack admin might need to approve the connection.

How does the Pigment App for Slack work?

The Pigment App for Slack sends Pigment notifications directly to Members in Slack. After establishing a connection between Pigment and an individual Slack workspace, Members are mapped by their emails and new notifications reach you as direct messages through the Pigment app under the Apps section in Slack.

When a Member receives a notification in Slack, they will see the entire message displayed for them. When clicking on the link in the notification, it will be the same behavior as if they opened the notification in the Notification center

For example, if the notification is from a conversation, the link will redirect you to the conversation in Pigment.

When a notification is accessed via Slack, that notification will not impact the number of unread notifications they have but will still show as unread.

For example, if I have 0 notifications listed in the notification center and I receive a new notification. If I open it in Slack, I will not see a 1 next to my name in the notification center but when I open the notification center, it will still show as unread.

Supported Notification Types

The connection to Slack covers a range of notification types to keep you informed in real-time. These include:

  1. Conversation: Get notified on comments, replies and mentions.
  2. Tasks and Alerts: Get notified on tasks, requests and changes assigned to you
  3. Imports: Get notified when your data imports are complete or when your scheduled imports fail.
  4. Application operations: Get notified when your Snapshots or duplications are completed.

Mapping Pigment Members to Slack

When you first set up the integration, Pigment will automatically map Members based on their email addresses. This ensures that your Pigment and Slack profiles are linked accurately. Here's how it works:

  • Existing Members with matching email addresses in both systems will be automatically mapped.
  • New Members with matching email addresses will also be added to the mapping, but this might take up to 24 hours.

Managing Notification Settings

All notification settings are customizable on an individual basis. If a Member wants to adjust their own notification preferences, follow these steps:

  1. In the Pigment sidebar, locate the circle with your initials and click on it.
  2. Navigate to "Account Settings" and select "Notifications" under that section.
  3. Customize your notification options to match your preferences.

Disconnecting Pigment from Slack

Depending on your Slack configuration a Slack admin may be the only one who can perform this action.

This action is performed from within your Slack Workspace's App directory. Here is one way to access it:.

  1. In the Slack sidebar in the apps section, locate the Pigment App and click on it.
  2. Navigate to the About tab and click on the “configuration” button. This will redirect you to your company’s app directory on the Pigment App
  3. Select Configure under that section..
  4. In the configuration tab, Scroll down to the Remove App section and click Remove app.

This will remove the connection for the entire workspace. Remember, Members can always turn off their own Slack notifications via the notification settings.
